robert leaves a wife, stella, 3 children , christine. brenda and robert and also grandchildren, steven,david,rebekah,robertjnr,joe,abbey,sam,and isobel also great grandchild thomas. Robert also had two brothers,norman who died several years ago and ronald who has also died recently. Robert bravely battled against bowel cancer which in the end sadly got the better of him.
Robert was the most gentle and fun loving man i knew. His sense of hunour was brilliant and i was amazed of the amount of people who came to his funeral when he passed away there wasnt any seats left to sit on and people were gathered at the back of the church during the service, this was a testament as to what people thought of him as a person. There is now a huge void within the family which we find difficult to cope with sometimes. Robert was an avid dog walker and everyone in his area new him by his dog Jess sadly not long after he died Jess passed away as well it was as if she could never cope with being apart from him either. I dont think a day goes by that we as a family dont think about him in some way sometimes the loss of him is so intense. The one thing i remember when he was so ill is that he felt he had let us down by not battling with the cancer harder and won over it that is what kind of a person he was not worrying about himself just sad that he hadnt done better for us how can you replace or ask for anything better than that. He was also really though of well by all his work collegues as even after his retirement from british telecom they constantly kept in touch and he went out to any functions organised at christmas etc he was visited by work collegues whilst he was in hospital and when he passed away you could see the genuine loss they felt as well as his family as he had known some of them for over 30 years once again a testament to what a special person robert was. Sadly nothing can replace him he was a one off and unique person and i am privileged to say that he was my dad and it was an honour to have known and loved him.
